Ralf Rauker studied acting (1981-’86) and received a two years MA scholarship in Performing Arts (1988 – ’90) at the University of Arts Berlin. He worked at the Mime Center Berlin from 1991 –‘96 on a long-term research project on Meyerhold’s Biomechanics and was a lecturer at the Moving Academy for Performing Arts from 1993 – 2000. In 1995 he started his career as a theatre maker and director and has directed and devised 20 theatre and performance projects since then.
In 2003 he moved to Perth in Western Australia to work as a fulltime lecturer, first in “Theatre Arts” at WAAPA and later in “Contemporary Performance” at Edith Cowan University. In 2005 he enrolled in a PhD in Performing Arts at WAAPA and successfully graduated in 2011. His PhD research subject was Bertolt Brecht first full length play “Baal” and the related opera fragment “Journeys of the God of Happiness. Ralf Rauker founded Workshops on the Move –Theatre and Performance Training in 2013 and is available to teach in Australia and abroad.
