Study your Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management with Perth’s Principal Academy of Dance
This one-year course will provide national recognition of teaching dance within private dance studios, as fitness instructors or as an administrator for private dance and fitness studios. In addition to practical, supervised teaching experience, the course provides applicable training in business and production management.
Students can choose to specialise in teaching any combination of classical ballet, jazz, contemporary or tap.
Management units of competency may include occupational health and safety, team management, assessment processes, business marketing, and small business operations.
A large proportion of the course is made up of self-directed and self-paced learning. You will be required to complete a first aid certificate in your own time to fulfil the course requirements.
Students studying the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts full-time courses, may elect to complete this qualification in addition to their chosen course.
Entry to the course is by application and interview. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available in some units to those who have other qualifications or extensive experience as a teacher or in business operations.
Applicants must demonstrate competence in at least one dance genre to a Certificate IV standard. Students enrolled as full-time dance majors have the opportunity to study this in conjunction with Diploma or Advanced Diploma.
The Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management is an advancement of the Certificate IV course.
Candidates are required to have completed the Certificate IV of Dance Teaching and Management or should be able to demonstrate experience in business management and dance teaching at an advanced level.
