It is specifically designed to produce highly skilled and diverse professional performers enabling them to seek work in a broad range of future employment such as musical theatre productions, cruise ships, entertainment resorts, theme parks, film and television.

The aim is to ensure individuals have acquired a comprehensive range of skills and in-depth knowledge to display the disciplined attitude necessary for a professional dancer, singer and actor. Each will enhance and refine their technique and artistry showing confidence, assurance and professional awareness in application. Also, a comprehensive understanding of professional contexts will be applied in performance and practice.

Level 1 will introduce you to a wide variety of subjects that will focus on your developing your technique and theoretical understanding of each subject matter. The year will aim to establish your awareness of a performers lifestyle to prepare you for further training and a professional career. Assessments are conducted throughout the year to monitor your progress. By the end of your first year, you will be guided by Heads of Department to the best pathway that suits your strengths in order to meet your full potential.

This will concentrate and build on the core techniques and performance qualities. At this stage you will now be studying your recommended pathway and commenced additional units of study. For example, musical theatre students will expand upon their vocal and acting, whereas dancers will study additional styles of dance including choreography. Extra-curricular study is also available with the ISTD dance teaching examinations in modern.

The final level will fully prepare you for your intended career by focusing upon performance experience. This is achieved with Principal Academy’s association with Platinum Entertainment, to provide you with the unique opportunity to appear in professional productions held at the Crown Theatre, Perth.
