Entry Requirements

Perth’s Leading Academy of Performing Arts.

Acceptance into a course is dependent on the applicant meeting certain entry requirements. Potential students can nominate their preferred qualification and choice of major within their audition application submission.

Principal Academy of Dance accepts applicants who meet the following eligibility:

  • A serious commitment to full-time training
  • Talent and potential as a performer
  • A potential for vital, trainable growth
  • Energy and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work as part of an ensemble
  • Potential to meet the technical standards
  • Attend and pass the audition criteria

Audition Dates

Scheduled auditions for the 2020 intake will be held at Principal Academy studios in Leederville as follows:

First Round: Tuesday 26th November 2019

Second Round: Friday 6th December 2019

Final Round: Thursday 16th January 2020

Audition Criteria

Once you have submitted your application and are deemed eligible for your nominated course, you will be required to participate in an audition to assess your current skills. Whilst we will accept applications and individual auditions throughout the year, our scheduled auditions are held in November and January. The audition will consist of the following:

Dance Majors:

One hour Classical Ballet Class

One hour Jazz ClassEntry Requirements

A pre-prepared solo up to one minute in duration

Musical Theatre Majors:

One hour Jazz Class

A pre-prepared monologue

One musical theatre song of no more than 32 bars in duration

Acting Majors:

One pre-prepared classic monologue

One pre-prepared contemporary monologue
