Perth’s Leading Performing Arts Academy since 2008.
Established in 2008, Principal Academy of Dance has become one of Western Australia’s leading vocational training organisations for the Performing Arts. Centrally located in the heart of Leederville, WA, the dance, musical theatre and acting Academy has excellent teaching facilities with modern purpose built, fully equipped studios.
Our outstanding teaching faculty consists of university lecturers, internationally acclaimed choreographers, and fully qualified industry experienced teachers that encourage all students to reach their full potential.
All courses are specifically designed to produce highly skilled and diverse professional performers enabling them to succeed and sustain a long-term career in this demanding industry. Graduates have forged successful careers both nationally and internationally in musical theatre, touring productions, cruise ships, resort parks, television and commercial work. Many others have gained entry into WAAPA, VCA, Ballarat and Griffith University Bachelor of Arts courses in Dance and Musical Theatre.
As a vocational training provider, our students generally have some background or experience already in the performing arts and are keen to pursue a career in the industry or to further their studies at University.
Students may consider Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma accredited courses as an educational and career path. Our industry-recognised qualifications may be undertaken in preparation for further studies or as bridging courses towards university or another performing arts institutions both nationally and internationally . Students who are already engaged in full-time education may also wish to complement their studies by undertaking Certificate II or III in Dance and achieving units of competency which build towards a qualification. All units of competency contained within nationally recognised qualifications in Dance, Musical Theatre and Acting are nationally endorsed. The Curriculum Council of WA states that “any nationally recognised VET qualifications and/or units of competency from training packages attained by senior students in years 10, 11 or 12 can contribute towards the achievement of a West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).“
At Principal Academy of Dance, we offer a very supportive environment and pride ourselves on the ability to accommodate a student’s individual needs.
